Description
“There’s white smoke in that young man’s future!”
When Seoras Macleod and his indefatigable partner Jane volunteer for a charitable rebuilding project abroad, they expect nothing more dangerous than a few blisters and a bit of homespun goodwill. But when the local priest vanishes without a trace, the uneasy congregation turns to former Detective Chief Inspector Seoras for help.
In a land where nothing is quite as it seems, Seoras and Jane soon discover cracks beneath the village’s polite surface — political grudges, whispered bargains, and a priest who dared to challenge it all. What begins as a quiet search swiftly tangles into a web of corruption and revenge, where every answer leads to another locked door.
The deeper they dig, the sharper the dangers become: gangsters on the prowl, officials eager to silence embarrassment, and a community teetering between faith and fear. With tempers flaring and secrets smouldering, Seoras and Jane must uncover the truth before the trail — and the priest — go cold forever.
Sin, smoke, and sanctimony — one missing man, two stubborn sleuths, and a mystery that burns hotter than a church candle left unattended.
