Description
Former DCI Seoras Macleod and his ever-resourceful partner Jane have promised themselves a quiet Christmas: no chases, no corpses, and absolutely no police work. Their destination is Inverchoran’s newest and grandest Highland hotel, a glittering retreat perched beside a lonely loch, where roaring fires, fine food, and festive comfort should be the only things on the menu.
But when a violent snowstorm seals the roads and cuts the hotel off from the world, the holiday cheer begins to feel distinctly thin. Trapped among wealthy guests, polished staff, and strangers with smiles too carefully arranged, Seoras and Jane barely have time to enjoy the decorations before Christmas dinner turns deadly.
A powerful businessman collapses at the table, killed by a fast-acting poison. With no police able to reach them, no one able to leave, and the killer still among the guests, Seoras must dust off his detective instincts before the murderer decides on a second helping.
As Jane charms loose secrets and Seoras follows the coldest of clues, Christmas in the Highlands becomes anything but peaceful.
For Seoras and Jane, it’s beginning to look a lot like murder.
